Since not all schools compete in all the activities available, TAPPS will occasionally use the term ‘Division’ to divide schools into competitive groupings.
For example, while TAPPS has six classifications for Boys and Girls Basketball, Volleyball and other sports, there are not enough schools competing in Football to split them into six classifications. In these situations, we use the term ‘Division’. Football has four divisions which are designated as Division I, Division II, Division III and Division IV.
Unlike classification, with Divisions the smaller the number, the larger the schools enrollment. For example TAPPS Division I Football includes schools playing football with the largest enrollment while Division IV includes those schools with the smallest.
Depending on the activity, TAPPS may organize schools into three to five divisions.
